What is eSIM
We will tell you about the development of technologies, the main advantages of eSIM and the possibility of buying an eSIM in Babylon Mobile.
History of SIM-cards development
The first mobile phones did not have SIM cards at all. They were programmed by the operator, and all the information was stored in the device's memory - it was impossible to change the operator. In 1991, a piece of plastic with a microcircuit appeared, which can be taken out of one phone and rearranged into another. This technology has been quite convenient for many years. SIM cards were used primarily in phones and modems. They were rarely rearranged, so the only thing that changed was the size. Full-size SIM-cards (1 FF), the length and width of which were 85.6 and 53.98 mm, respectively, were replaced by:
2FF - mini-SIM - 25 x15 mm;
3FF - micro-SIM - 15 x 12 mm;
4FF - nano-SIM - 12.3 x 8.8 mm.
